Iran Air signs Boeing Deal
On Sunday the 16.6 billion dollar deal between Iran Air and American aircraft company Boeing was signed. The deal is about purchasing 80 passenger planes, including 50 Boeing 737 planes as well as 30 aircrafts of the type 777 which ought to be delivered within the next ten years. Hence, this is the biggest US-Iran deal since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The Iranian minister for Roads and Urban Development, Abbas Akhoundi, called the deal historic and emphasised that it also meant 8.000 new jobs for his country. Furthermore, the deal is one step to modernization for Iran Air which faced difficulties purchasing new planes in the past due to the international sanctions. As a result some planes of the outdated fleet were not allowed to land on certain international airports.
